However some of the plants survived and grew wild in the rainforest in 1958 dr alan maruff, a local gp based in the township of innisfail, purchased a few hundred acres of land in the nerada valley and commenced planting tea. Today nerada tea is harvested, manufactured and packed throughout the year. With over 20 stunning blends to choose from, our handcrafted award winning teas and all single origin are packaged onsite at our estate in northern nsw.
Nerada tea’s visitors’ centre (located on the plantation) is open to the public seven days a week. Tony and his family have lived and breathed nerada tea for more than 30 years. There is a 1,000 acre tea plantation called nerada in far north queensland in australia (neradatea.com.au).
